TechArt Turbo Time!
It was only a matter of time before TechArt worked their magic on the new 991-generation Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models. The German supercars were done up just in time for the Essen Motor Show and pave the way for the highly anticipated GTStreet power-packed Porsche 911 Turbos set to be unveiled at the 84th Geneva Motor Show. These new 911 Turbo upgrades may not affect horsepower – yet, but they’re quite the lookers.+
The new TechArt Porsche 911 Turbo models were designed to emphasize the extended width and length of the new 991-generation cars. Designers utilized lightweight and rigid fiber composites made from carbon and polyurethane RIM for these parts to keep weight to a minimum while improving the overall airflow and styling of the supercar.
TechArt’s new aerodynamic kit focuses on being tasteful instead of other dramatic conversions on the market. Up front, the factory bumper is fitted with a TechArt Front Spoiler I that integrates into the factory active aerodynamics system. Drivers can choose to extend the spoiler with the push of a button at speeds below 120 km/h or the system will automatically deploy when 120 km/h is reached. When the 911 Turbo slows to under 80 km/h, the spoiler automatically retracts. The front fascia also features TechArt aero wings in the inlets, an air vent, as well as headlight trims and TECHART Performance Décor set visual highlights.
The big, fat butt of the Porsche 911 Turbo models is further complemented by a fixed TechArt Rear Spoiler II. Protruding from the rear-end are the stainless steel, dual oval tailpipes as part of the TechArt Sport Exhaust System with valve control and muffler.
TechArt also has their full list of forged wheels and suspension upgrades available for the all-wheel drive 911 Turbo models. The featured wheels are the Formula IV lightweight alloys with a five twin-spoke design in single, two-tone, or custom finishes. Other 21-inch Formula III, 20-inch Formula, or even 20-inch center-locking wheels can be ordered and installed as well. To sharpen up handling and the overall stance of the supercar, the TechArt Sport Spring kit drops the overall ride height and can be combined with the TechArt Noselift system that raises the car to overcome obstacles and prevent damage.
Inside, all of the custom-tailored driving and comfort goodies one could ever want are available from the company’s saddlery department. An ergonomically-designed three-spoke steering wheel with new paddle shifters, aluminum foot pedals and footrest help to engage the driver even more. Illuminated door sills can be custom-tailored to the color desired by the customer along with the entire cockpit using leather or other materials with decorative stitching. Carbon fiber and other materials can be used to contrast or conform to the colors inside the cabin.
Currently, TechArt’s mad scientists of speed and power are developing new power kits for the Porsche 911 Turbo models. They will also unveil their GTStreet conversion programs once the Geneva Motor Show rolls around in 2014.
