Showing off a mean streak.
The new Mk3 Audi TT is new and a lot edgier this time around. The sporty coupe is asserting itself as a mean and exciting sports car at the Geneva International Motor Show thanks to the team at ABT Sportsline.
“And this means there has to be power and performance,” says CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. “With this exhibition model we show how much potential there is even in the 2.0 TFSI quattro, which we have upgraded to the level of the production TTS.”
To start things off, the 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine was given a healthy dose of power. The factory 230 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque output gets pushed to 310 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. thanks to the ABT Power “New Generation” program. A new ABT muffler system spits out a more aggressive note through the black tailpipes with ABT logos laser etched into them.
Thanks to the tried-and-true, advanced Quattro all-wheel drive system, all that added power is transferred to all four of the newly-installed ABT wheels. New ABT FR alloy wheels were installed on the matte gunmetal-wrapped Audi TT in a 9.0x 20 front and 9.5 x 20 rear setup. The matte black, five double-spoke wheels are shod in 255/30 ZR 20 Continental sport tires for loads of grip. Behind those new wheels sit powerful, six-piston ABT sport brakes with 370 x 35 mm discs up front to stop on a dime. Making the sports car even more nimble are ABT springs and stabilizers.
For the past two generations, the Audi TT has had a more rounded, modern design. The third-generation has an edgier shape to it that ABT Sportsline took advantage of with their new body kit. The front fascia is more aggressive thanks to an ABT front skirt add-on and front spoiler lip. A new set of side skirts and mirror caps lend to a more athletic character while the rear sports a large ABT wing and skirt insert with offset design to accommodate the exhaust tips.
The interior of the ABT Sportsline Audi TT benefits from a few touches that add to the overall sportier character of the car. ABT logos adorn both of the sport seats while the steering wheel, console, seats, and other parts wear Alcantara. A new set of floor mats complete the package.
The new ABT Sportsline Audi TT made its global debut at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show and will be available as a complete package or as individual accessories.
