Just not a good one.
Safety ALWAYS comes first at every track and automotive event around the globe, as it should be. This includes small-time events such as autocross and drifting. If everybody is going to have fun, they need to be safe first and foremost.
That includes always being aware of cars that are on the track and positioning yourself out of harm’s way. A two-ton vehicle will always win against a human. Always.
At a drifting event in Russia, one bystander was viewing the event behind a plastic fence set up just beyond the cones of the course in an empty parking lot. This was not a good place to stand and watch at all, and the bystander was essentially helpless when one car lost control.
As the car began to lose traction, it headed straight for the bystander who attempted to get out of the way, unsuccessfully. Unfortunately, according to the video uploader, the bystander received fractured ribs; kidney injuries; shoulder, hip, and thigh factures; a concussion; and a closed traumatic brain injury.
If you take one thing away from this video, please make sure that you are always being safe and careful around cars, especially during driving events. We hate to see accidents like this happen and want to prevent future accidents such as this.
Our prayers are with the victim and we hope that he makes a full recovery.
