The Porsche Macan S Diesel might not be the most powerful or biggest crossover SUV on the market, but it’s one of the more athletic and sporty, especially after Hamann Motorsport adds on their tiger-inspired upgrade package. It gives the diesel SUV more power, an adjustable exhaust note, and more aggressive appearance that makes it quite the imposing force on the street.
Assertive confidence is what the Hamann Motorsport Porsche Macan S Diesel is all about and it starts with the new exterior styling. The front fascia gains new aerodynamic attachments that visually lower the SUV and optimize airflow. Both the front and rear fenders were given a significant boost and are now 12 cm larger in width and connected by new side skirts to create a muscular and powerful appearance. At the rear, a new trunk spoiler below the window and new composite design trim add to the SUV’s presence.
Protruding from the rear are four 89 mm tailpipes in ceramic-coating, black, chrome, or carbon fiber as part of the Active Sound sports exhaust system. The new exhaust gives a meaner, V-8 sound thanks to two sound actuators embedded inside of the mufflers with main control unit and networked amplifier. The system can be controlled by the cruise control lever or Hamann App to allow drivers to produce a V-8 exhaust note with three settings: “off”, “medium”, and “loud”. The Hamann App allows for the volume and characteristics of the note to be adjusted, and can even “rev” the engine without actually doing so.
Although the sound may be artificial, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine under the hood of the Hamann Macan S Diesel isn’t a slouch. The oil-burner was tuned by Hamann Motorsport to create a total of 310 horsepower at 4,200 RPM and 501 lb-ft. of torque at 2,500 PRM. That’s good for a 5.7-second 0-62 mph sprint with the Sport Chrono package.
Putting that torque filled power band to the pavement falls on the newly installed Hamann Anniversary EVO wheels. The 10.5 J x 22 multi-spoke wheels wear 295/30 ZR22 Continental ContiSport Contact 6 high-performance tires for never-ending grip. The entire SUV was also lowered thanks to tailor-made sport springs for an optimum center of gravity and handling characteristics.
Inside, Hamann Motorsport can give the Porsche Macan S Diesel all sorts of sport-oriented and luxury goodies. Different customized trims, accessories, upholstery and more can be installed by the Hamann Motorsport team per customer request to make a custom-tailored SUV.
The new Hamann Motorsport Porsche Macan S Diesel is currently available as a complete vehicle or retro-fitted kit that can be installed at the company headquarters in Laupheim, Germany or international partner sites.
