Power, Presence, Prestige.
The BMW X6 M is an SUV for those that want to drive a sports car. It has the power and performance of a car but the size of an SUV with the looks of a coupe. It’s kind of like trying to have your cake and eat it too, but you ate way too much and now you feel sick.
Hamann Motorsport was at the Geneva Motor Show with a widebody BMW X6 M that’s guaranteed to get you to over that nausea. The new carbon fiber-clad, widebody SUV with a powerhouse at its heart is ready to grab attention and make quite the impact.
Starting things off is a complete visual makeover that starts with the lightweight carbon fiber hood that tips the scales at just 23 lbs. and features a classic “power dome”. A one-piece front fascia with skirt and integrated daytime running lights makes the X6 M look more like a car than a crossover.
Arguably the most eye-catching part of the conversion though, is the widebody that sees both the front and rear fenders grow a total of 12 centimeters. The flared fenders are connected by a pair of side skirts and feature filigree air outlets by the front doors. At the rear of the Hamann Motorsport BMW X6 M sits a new rear wing flying atop the trunklid and a new set of aerodynamic add-ons for the factory rear bumper.
Sitting beneath those massive fenders is a set of Hamann Motorsport Anniversary EVO alloy wheels in either black, silver, or hyper black finishes. The one-piece wheels measure 11.0 x 23 and come shod in 315/25 R23 high performance tires. The new wheel and tire setup led the German tuners to custom tailor their new sport springs specifically to the larger fitment to optimize handling dynamics and grip. The new sport springs lower the ride height by 45 mm and 30 mm at the front and rear, respectively, further making the SUV look more like a sports car.
While the 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine hiding under its lightweight hood offers more than enough performance in stock form, the team at Hamann Motorsport decided to turn things up a notch or two. The first stage of engine tuning includes a performance module that pushes output to 640 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 620 lb-ft. from 2,000 to 5,000 RPM. For those that want even more power, Stage 2 serves up 700 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque from 2,200 to 5,000 RPM thanks to a new performance module and modified exhaust with new downpipes and 300-cell sports catalytic converters. As an option, a new sport rear muffler with four 100-mm tailpipes in a variety of finishes is also available.
Inside, performance is on display – literally. Hamann Motorsport installed a new high-res display that shows a variety of performance data from power to acceleration and everything in between for drivers. New sport pedals offer better grip while integrated door LED lights show the Hamann logo on the ground when opened. A new Alcantara trunk mat with decorative stitching and silver Hamann logo.
The new Hamann Motorsport BMW X6 M can be ordered as a complete upgrade package or customers can pick and choose individual upgrades if they desire.
