The BMW M2 is the spiritual successor to the compact BMW 1-Series M Coupe, and it serves up a lot of fun with its nimble size. While it’s a load of fun right out of the box, G-Power has taken that white-kuckled level of excitement a step further with their latest upgrade program.
The fresh TwinPower Turbo N55B30 inline-six cylinder engine with 365 horsepower from the factory benefits from a choice of tunes that retain the factory engine diagnostics and protection systems. The first is the custom-tailored G-Power Bi-Tronik 2 V1 ECU software made to fit the owner’s preferences. Customers can also order the plug-and-play Bi-Tronik 5 V1 module that is activated under full load.
Both software upgrades work with the titanium sport exhaust that sheds 12 lbs. of weight from the BMW M2. The lightweight system sports four 90-mm carbon tailpipes and a dual-mode sound flap that allows drivers to alter the volume of their howling straight-six.
After the G-Power upgrades, the BMW M2 produces 410 horsepower at 6,500 RPM and 420 lb-ft. of torque at 3,500 RPM. That’s good for a 0-124 mph acceleration time of just 14.5 seconds. After the optional top-speed limiter is removed, the G-Power BMW M2 can reach 180 mph.
Added power provides a lot more straight-line fun, but the G-Power BMW M2 also dazzles in the corners. A full G-Power G2M-RS adjustable suspension kit gives drivers the ability to reduce height from 20-45 mm up front and 25-50 mm at the rear. The new dampers also have a nine-way adjustability to provide the perfect setup for a given track or road.
In front of the tailored suspension sits a new set of G-Power Hurricane RR forged wheels. Made from forged aluminum alloy, these wheels actually reduce unsprung weight around the hub for better overall performance. On the BMW M2, G-Power offers the Hurricane RR wheels in a 20-inch diameter with 245/30 ZR20 high-performance tires for loads of grip.
After the main aspects of performance were upgraded by G-Power, the BMW M2 is looking like quite a track weapon.
