Number-11 is strutting its stuff.
When ABT Sportsline turned 120 years old, they wanted to do something big to celebrate. So, they made a limited run of 12 uniquely-modified, Audi RS6 Avant models – one for each decade. The anniversary model has all the right stuff in all the right places plus special distinctions inside and out that celebrate the brand’s 120th birthday in 2016. At the Essen Motor Show, ABT Sportsline decided to show off their 11th of the run of 12.
The anniversary special had to have a powerplant that could blow out 120 candles, so the ABT Sportsline team worked their magic on the 4.0 TFSI engine. The twin-turbocharged V-8 was outfitted with the ABT Power S program featuring a special ABT Engine Control system designed specifically for the RS6. The end result is a boost of 130 horsepower and 162 lb-ft. of torque for a total of 735 horses and 679 lb-ft. As an added bonus, the top speed limiter was removed, paving the way for the ABT RS6 1 of 12 to reach 199 mph.
In combination with the engine modifications, the RS6 1 of 12 was also given a new stainless steel exhaust with a new pre-muffler that reduces backpressure. Four Daytona Grey tailpipes protrude from the rear bumper and exert a confident rumble under throttle while complementing the car’s body color.
Putting all 735 horsepower down to the pavement on the ABT Sportsline Audi RS6 1 of 12 are new in-house ABT FR wheels. These sport-type alloys feature a five-double-spoke design that rise from the wheel hub towards the edge of the rim with a two-tone finish. The new wheels measure a wide 10.0 x 22 at the front and rear and wear 305/25 ZR22 Continental high-performance tires to ensure maximum grip.
The ABT Sportsline RS6 1 of 12 stands out from the crowd with its exterior design. A full carbon fiber aerodynamic kit is worn by the high-performance wagon starting with new inlet panels and flics up front. New fender inserts allude to the power hiding beneath the hood while carbon fiber side mirrors and side skirt add-ons create a more athletic profile. At the rear, the RS6 1 of 12 features a new lower skirt insert that integrates the four Daytona Grey tailpipes. Above, a new carbon fiber spoiler sits proudly with a “1/12” logo to show its exclusivity.
The celebration continues inside for the ABT Sportsline RS6 1 of 12. Here, the floor mats bear a “120 yeas” graphic while a special “1/12” plaque is on display across the dashboard. Even the entrance lights shine a special “120 years” graphic when the doors are opened. Alcantara is worn by the headliner, tailgate, pillars, dashboard and is mixed in with leather on the sport bucket seats in combination with the leather steering wheel, door panels, center console, window frames, and dashboard for a high-end, sporty atmosphere. The first – and final – touch to the cabin is an ABT start-stop switch cap.
Only 12 of the ABT Sportsline RS6 1 of 12 models were made to celebrate the 120th birthday of the German company in 2016. Number-11 was on display at the Essen Motor Show to give fans and customers a taste of what the German tuners have done throughout its history and will do in the future.
