Because racecar.
The Mercedes-AMG E63 4Matic sits in a pretty exclusive category of its own with its brutal twin-turbocharged V-8 and thundering performance. But, Posaidon has put it in a league of its own that’s above most super cars with the new E63 RS850+. With the upgrade program, it becomes the most powerful street-legal Mercedes of all-time.
The Posaidon E63RS 850+ is based on the standard Mercedes-AMG E63 4Matic, but packs one hell of a punch. The hand-built engine was given bigger turbochargers, more efficient intercoolers, a bespoke carbon fiber intake for the ram air intake system, and colder competition spark plugs. A new hand-fabricated turbo-back exhaust system with valve-controlled muffler gets exhaust gasses out in a hurry.
After the Posaidon E63RS 850+ got all of its new hardware installed, the ECU’s software was re-tuned to accommodate, resulting in a total of 1,020 horsepower and 1,033 lb-ft. of torque. In order to handle the mind-boggling amount of torque, the Posaidon E63RS 850+ saw its gearbox get reinforced and new differentials were installed on both axles in an attempt to get more traction.
Armed with the added power, the Posaidon E63RS 850+ is capable of reaching 62 mph from rest in just 2.8 seconds. The theoretical top speed is all the way back at 229 mph but for the sake of tires and safety, it’s electronically-limited to “just” 218 mph.
The job of generating traction falls on the larger wheels and tires hiding beefy carbon ceramic brakes. ADV1 alloys were chosen for this German monster and fitted in a 9.5 x 20 ET37 front and 11.0 x 20 ET45 rear fitment with 255/30 R20 and 295/25 R20 tires, respectively. Fully-adjustable coilovers allow drivers to get the perfect ride height and setup for a given track or winding road. Completing the upgrades beneath the body are six-piston calipers biting on 420 x 40 mm brake discs up front and four-piston calipers with 360 x 32 mm discs at the rear.
Part of the performance equation on the Posaidon E63RS 850+ lies with the new lightweight carbon fiber bodywork. The chiseled hood with integrated vents helps to cool the engine bay and shed weight with its carbon fiber construction. Carbon fiber is also used for the front bumper, which now integrates a wire-mesh grille instead of the factory grille to send more air towards the radiator. The side mirrors, trim around the tailpipe, diffuser, and rear spoiler were all made from the lightweight material and improve aerodynamics even further.
But saving weight didn’t start or end there on the Posaidon E63RS 850+. The Mercedes-AMG E63 4MAtic isn’t exactly a featherweight, but Posaidon was able to cut 88 lbs. from the overall weight by removing the rear seats and door trims, and installing new racing seats from the C63 Black Series up front, because every little bit counts.
The new Posaidon E63RS 850+ is a Mercedes-AMG E63 4Matic playing in a league of its own when it comes to power and performance. Pricing for the entire upgrade program has not been released.
