The letters “GTS” are special in the Porsche world and reference the iconic 1963 904 Carrera GTS. Porsche resurrected the name for the 997.2 911 Carrera GTS, and has brought the moniker back once again with the Panamera GTS. Like its 911 sibling, the 2013 Porsche Panamera GTS is injected with more sport, exclusive looks, and a lively interior.
The new Porsche Panamera GTS will utilize a tuned version of the 4.8-liter V-8 engine found in the S/4S models along with an all-wheel drivetrain. The naturally-aspirated engine cranks out 430 horsepower at 6,700 RPM and 383 lb-ft. of torque – a healthy 30 horses and 15 lb-ft. over the S/4S models. With the added power, Sport Chrono package, PDK, and PTM, the 2013 Porsche Panamera GTS is capable of reaching 62 mph from rest in less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 179 mph.
The exterior and chassis of the Porsche Panamera GTS is unique compared to the rest of the lineup. Porsche has fitted the Panamera GTS with new side skirts, a more aggressive front bumper with spoiler lip, and rear bumper with special exhaust cutouts. Black highlights help to further differentiate the GTS model along with 19-inch standard wheels. Each wheel features a 5 mm spacer to emphasize width and grippy 255/45 R19 front and 285/40 R 19 rear tires. The standard suspension on the 2013 Porsche Panamera GTS is an adaptive air system equipped with all of the latest electronic gadgets such as (PASM) to continuously adjust the height, damping, and spring rates.
The interior of the Porsche Panamera GTS is both luxurious and sporty. New sport seats are standard with alcantara inserts and contrasting stitching. Special alcantara and leather with contrasting stitching is used throughout the center console, dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels. Facing the driver is a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters to control the PDK transmission.
The 2013 Porsche Panamera GTS will officially go on sale in February of 2012. Prices for the sporty Panamera will begin at € 116,716 (+/- 157,000 USD).
