Sporty, subtle, and sweet.
The new BMW (F13) 650i is a fast, powerful, smooth, and sexy grand touring coupe that isn’t overly flashy or showy. AC Schnitzer has taken BMW’s formula for success a step further with their new 6 Series tuning program for the 650i Coupe.
The new AC Schnitzer 650i doesn’t wear gaudy spoilers or bodywork. Instead, the German tuner focused on subtle aerodynamic upgrades that would add a touch of classy style. The front fascia can be given a chrome grin with a new grille and trim strips that sit atop of a subtle spoiler. At the rear, AC Schnitzer has installed a trunk mounted spoiler for downforce, a new skirt insert with exhaust cutouts, and protective foiling for the loading edge.
Going along with the 6 Series tuning program are new performance-oriented chassis upgrades. The stock wheels can be replaced with a number of new AC Schnitzer wheels ranging from 19 to 20 inches in diameter. The featured rims are the Type VIII Racing Forged wheels that reduce weight by 30 percent compared to the stock 20-inch wheels. The 9.0J x 21 front and 10.0J x 21 rear wheels weigh in at just 25.3 and 26.2 lbs. respectively. Behind each wheel sits an upgraded brake system designed to bring the powerful GT to a halt safely. The system is comprised of eight-piston front calipers and a new eight-piece brake line set. The fitment is finished off with a new AC Schnitzer spring kit that improves the center of gravity.
The 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine in the 650i was given a significant performance boost with the AC Schnitzer 6 Series tuning program. The 4.4-liter received an ECU tune, twin sports rear muffler with chrome exhaust tips, and new engine optics for a little flash and dazzle. After the upgrades, the AC Schnitzer 650i boasted 540 horsepower at 5,800 RPM and 553 lb-ft. of torque from 3,000 to 3,500 RPM. This enables the GT coupe to reach 62 mph in just 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 202 mph.
As part of the AC Schnitzer 650i program, the German tuner also offers an interior upgrade program. The standard i-Drive controller can be given a special “Black Line” aluminum cover, the stock pedals can be replaced with new aluminum components, and an airbag sports steering wheel can be fitted. AC Schnitzer will also decorate the floors with velour mats for the cabin and trunk.
The AC Schnitzer BMW 650i is available as an entire program or as separate accessories. Pricing and availability on the upgrades have not been released.
