Letting the AMG V-8 roar.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is one car we all would love to drive, even without the iconic Gullwing doors. The folks at Hennessey Performance have given us another fine reason to put the Roadster on our list of cars to drive with their new mid-pipe exhaust upgrade.
One thing that AMG does well is making their hand-built engines sound devilish, and the 6.2-liter V-8 in the SLS AMG Roadster sounds fantastic with the top down. The Hennessey Performance thought that a new mid-pipe exhaust upgrade for the SLS AMG Roadster would make it all the more enjoyable by freeing up a few ponies and tweaking the exhaust note to sound even better.
The new mid-pipe upgrade was recently developed for and installed on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster for some dyno testing. Hennessey Performance was able to achieve 483.8 horsepower at the rear wheels, which is quite impressive considering drivetrain losses.
