Say it isn’t so!
One of the most exclusive and expensive super cars ever to be sold was the Aston Martin One-77. Only 77 examples were built and sold to the public for around $1.7-1.8 million. Well, after a tragic one-car accident in Hong Kong, there are only 76 examples that are currently road worthy.
This week’s Friday Fail focuses on the one accident that makes automotive enthusiasts from around the world collectively cringe – an Aston Martin One-77 crash.
Word on the street is that this accent thankfully only involved one car – the Aston Martin. Nobody else was hurt due to the driver’s stupidity. Reportedly the owner had just taken delivery of the car in late May in Shenzhen, China. There’s no official word on who was at fault in the One-77 crash, but witnesses say that the driver had hit a curb at high speed.
It may be a tad bittersweet for the owner. The Aston Martin One-77 uses an incredibly lightweight and strong carbon fiber monocoque shell that protects passengers in high-speed crashes. The only downside to this is that it is incredibly expensive to repair (not that the rest of the car won’t be). The car may be a total write-off, but there has been speculation that the owner had not insured or even registered the One-77 yet.
It sounds like the owner has quite a mess on his hands and will be opening his checkbook big time. Every automotive enthusiast around the world would like to give a sarcastic “thank you” to this owner. We just hope that the car is repaired and doesn’t end up in the great big junkyard in the sky.
