Small on size, but not on fun.
Audi’s smallest model, the A1, may not have the same burbling V-8 powerplant, nor the same road-gripping Quattro all-wheel drive system as the other performance models in Audi’s lineup, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be sporty or fun to drive, especially the new ABT AS1.
ABT Sportsline has extended their reach into the Audi model lineup with the new AS1 tuning program based on the new A1. The ABT AS1 offers greater amounts of power for all engine variants and a larger range of customization.
Both the gasoline and diesel engines benefit from ABT Power technology. The featured engine for the tuner in the ABT AS1 is the 1.4 TFSI turbo-four that comes standard with 185 horsepower. After the upgrade, the engine produces 210 horsepower, can reach 62 mph from rest in 6.6 seconds, and hits a top speed just shy of 150 mph. The other 1.4 TFSI with 122 horsepower and the 1.2 TFSI with 86 horsepower standard were each pushed to 160- and 120 horsepower, respectively as the result of ABT Power tuning. In addition, the 2.0 TDI and 1.6 TDI diesel engines received the ABT Power upgrade to create a torque-filled 170 horsepower output in the 2.0 TDI and 125 horsepower in the 1.6 TDI. Each engine variant can be fitted with the centrally-mounted two-pipe exhaust system for a more aggressive exhaust note.
To match the more vibrant character of each engine, ABT Sportsline offers a range of exterior wraps for the AS1 model including an Aloha Hawaii look, funny Klecks, or High-Voltage theme. The exterior aerodynamic package that includes a front lip, side skirts, fender inserts, rear skirt, and rear spoiler can be finished in brushed aluminum, green grass, or lavender depending on the vehicle wrap.
Although the Audi A1 is limited to a front-wheel drive setup and not the legendary Quattro all-wheel drive (save for the A1 Clubsport Quattro), the ABT AS1 still offers a road-gripping, sporty ride. The standard suspension can be upgraded with new springs that lower the overall ride height and stiffen things up a bit. Customers also have the choice of DR or Z Titan alloy wheels in 17 to 18-inch diameters.
Last, but not least, new ABT Sportsline floor mats can be fitted to the interior.
All of the upgrades on the ABT Sportsline AS1 are currently available as individual accessories or as an entire package. Pricing has not been released.
