Where the E60 M5 still reigns king.
The E60/61 BMW M5 and its high-revving V-10 may be a thing of the past to the German automaker, but not at G-Power. In fact, they’re breaking new ground with the previous-generation model with their new M5 Hurricane RRs. The latest model in the Hurricane line, the RRs is capable of 229 mph and boasts 830 horsepower from its twin-supercharged V-10.
G-Power stuck with the same twin-supercharged formula for success with the M5’s V-10 engine, but changed things ever so slightly to achieve the incredible power output. A new SK III RRs „SPORTY DRIVE“ supercharger system utilizes two new belt-driven ASA T1-316 superchargers instead of the smaller ASA T1-313s used in previous models. Air is thrust into the engine through an orange aluminum casting and large intercooler setup. The standard pistons were replaced with lightweight, balanced forged MAHLE pistons with a lower compression ratio along with the standard connecting rods and pins. The 5.0-liter engine was equipped with a G-Power Speedflow exhaust system with two racing catalytic converters for optimized backpressure and a stainless steel muffler with quad 83 mm tailpipes. To compensate for the additional boost, the entire fuel system including injectors was upgraded for reliable fuel delivery. All of the modifications are tied together with an Alpha-N engine management system tuned for maximum performance.
The end result of all of the engine work by G-Power is an astounding 830 horsepower from 7,500 to 8,000 RPM and 575 lb-ft. of torque at 6,500 RPM. This enables the M5 Hurricane RRs to accelerate to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, reach 124 mph in 9.1 seconds, and 186 mph in 25.2 seconds. Top speed with the corresponding tires is set all the way to 229.91 mph (370 km/h).
But all of that performance figures and incredible top speed wouldn’t be possible without the improved chassis on the G-Power M5 Hurricane RRs. The stock suspension was upgraded with nine-way height, compression, and rebound adjustable in-house RS coilovers. The standard wheel and tire setup was replaced with new 20-inch Silverstone Diamond in-house wheels with specially-designed 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 front and rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires that can handle the 229 mph top speed of the sedan. To bring the two-ton performance sedan to a halt, customers can opt for in-house six-piston, 396 mm steel disc brakes at the front and six-piston, 380 mm discs at the rear axle with performance pads and metal-coated lines. For even better stopping power, heat dissipation, and lower weight, G-Power can install ceramic brakes on the M5 Hurricane RRs.
The G-Power M5 Hurricane RRs is the most powerful M5 that the German company has ever made and will likely be the swan song of the E60/61-generation model. Customers can order the SK III RRs „SPORTY DRIVE“ supercharger system for the E60/61 M5 or E63/64 M6 for 57,000.00 €; the G-Power Silverstone Diamond wheels with Michelin tires for 4,673.00 €; G-Power GM5-RS coilovers for 1,861.00 €; and the steel brakes for 6,466.00 € and 4,785.00 € (front/rear) or 14,460.00 € and 11,788.00 € (front/rear) for the ceramic units.
