The 1 M Coupe the way it should be.
After the introduction of the BMW 1 M Coupe, many criticized the car for not being a true M-car. It did feature the front and rear axles from the M3, but utilized a tuned version of the N54 twin-turbocharged inline-six that was used in other models instead of a true M-designed motor. Well, the team at G-Power has created what they believe to be the 1 M Coupe the way it should’ve been with the new G1 V8 Hurricane RS – the fastest 1 M Coupe in the world.
The new G-Power G1 V8 Hurricane RS is a Frankensteinish conversion with just a ton of horsepower for the small coupe. The entire N54 inline-six was removed and replaced with the M3’s S65B40 4.0-liter V-8 and then fitted one of their custom-tailored ASA centrifugal superchargers on it.
Talk about a little guy that packs a punch!
The newly transplanted V-8 engine was fitted with a custom-designed T1-523 ASA centrifugal supercharger that provides a smooth 0.5 BAR of boost pressure that’s just enough to throw you back in your seat at the push of the throttle. Atop of the engine sits the vibrant orange G-Power aluminum cast air box that houses the air ducting, eight integral resonance air induction pipes, and a racing air filter while incorporating the intercooler system at the front of the sports car. A handmade stainless steel exhaust system was configured to conform to the design of the underbody and helps to reduce backpressure as much as possible for the supercharged engine.
The result of the mad-scientist engine transplant is a whopping 600 horsepower at 7,800 RPM and 428 lb-ft. of torque at 3,900 RPM after all of the components are tied together with an advanced computer tune. With the help of the M3’s DCT transmission, the G1 V8 Hurricane RS can accelerate to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, 124 mph in 12.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 205.05 mph, making it the fastest BMW 1 Series M Coupe in the world.
The chassis was also upgraded to handle the massive power output, new engine, and new transmission. The G-Power Clubsport suspension was designed in partnership with KW and is comprised of adjustable coilovers, dampers, and support bearings that can correct camber and caster without sacrificing ride quality. A new set of brakes designed alongside Mov’it utilize four six-piston calipers clenching down on 396 mm ceramic-carbon discs that are 50-percent lighter than traditional steel components. The finishing touch is a set of 20-inch G-Power Silverstone Diamond wheels with 255/30 ZR 20 front and 295/25 ZR 20 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires for greater grip.
But G-Power wasn’t finished with the G1 V8 Hurricane RS. A carbon fiber hood with M3-like power dome and air vents helps to make room for the new engine and dissipate heat while a carbon fiber trunk helps to reduce weight and generate downforce.
Bringing it all together is an interior that focuses on comfort and sport. Every inch of the cockpit is outfitted with custom leather and alcantara with decorative stitching and unique trim pieces while each seat can be reshaped to offer a superb balance of comfort and support.
Only 30 of the G-Power G1 V8 Hurricane RS 1 Series M Coupes will be built and correspond with the 30th Anniversary of the company next year. Each model will be priced at 141,176.80 Euros and be the fastest 1 M Coupe in the world.
