It’s hard to keep a secret in the automotive industry. Somehow, across the border, it was successfully done and is about to be revealed (take that, paparazzi!). Cooked up by two brothers from Mexico, Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, the VUHL (the name is pronounced ‘vool’ and stands for ‘Vehicles of Ultra- lightweight and High-performance) Their Mexican/American design agency, Etxe, penned the breath-taking 05. Their father, Guillermo Echeverria Sr. who was successful in racing for 30 years and is the impetus for their car-loving passion.
The company’s suppliers include: Magna Steyr, Multimatic and Ford. It’s financially carried by private investors, and the Mexican Government. It will be interesting to see how the VUHL 05 is unveiled and how this lightweight supercar from the land of enchiladas competes against other lightweight marques like Lotus, Caterham, Spyker and Porsche. It will be launched at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, UK, July 11-14. We will keep you posted.
