Oh what the future holds…
Whether you like it or not, the future of automobiles is here and new technology is on the horizon that will one day make combustion engines obsolete. We hate the thought of that too, but this drag race between a Tesla Model S P85D and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is a perfect example as to why.
The brand-spankin’-new Tesla Model S P85 packs a potent 691 horsepower, powering all four wheels with blindly-fast acceleration. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is no slouch either with its ravenous 6.2-liter, supercharged V-8 thundering away with 707 horsepower. They’re both beasts in their own right and on completely opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to creating power. Heck, the Hellcat can obliterate a 1.5 gallons of gasoline in a minute at full throttle while the Tesla ushers in a new wave of environmentally-friendly, electric, economical performance.
So what happens and who wins in this drag race? It’s not exactly a sad day for muscle cars and combustion engines, but it’s not a promising one. That is, unless you love just shredding the utter hell out of your tires with 707 horsepower, which we’re totally cool with!
The Tesla set a new world record for production electric vehicles with an 11.683-second run at 114.61 mph, which is very impressive. So there’s that too.
