An extreme R8 4.2 with more power and less weight than the R8 V10.
STaSIS Engineering, the North American Volkswagen/Audi tuning specialists, have just released their supercharged R8 Challenge Extreme Edition package for the UK market. The new package for the R8 4.2 boosts power and creates a corner-carving monster that is lighter and more agile than the stock R8 V10.
The heart of the Challenge Extreme Edition package is the Eaton/Magnusson TVS 1900 supercharger force-feeding the 4.2-liter with 7.5 psi of boost. An independent charge air cooler was installed for maximum power output and reliability. Air is sucked in through a new CNC billet alloy machined intake plenum, and exhaust is expelled through a three-inch TIG welded stainless-steel cross flow exhaust system. All components are tuned with an ECU upgrade to produce 540 bhp and 435 lb-ft. of torque. The power boost improves the 0-60 mph acceleration time from the stock 4.4 seconds down to a quick 3.6 seconds.
In addition to the supercharger and engine upgrades, the STaSIS Audi R8 4.2 package also includes a number of chassis enhancements. The entire suspension has been upgraded with lowering springs and matched bump stops for a more precise drive while still retaining the factory “drive select” suspension feature. All four wheels have been replaced with ultra-lightweight forged 9.5 x 20 front and 12 x 20 rear wheels with high performance tires for an even wider footprint. Behind the new forged wheels are new Alcon 390 mm front and 355 mm rear discs for more potent stopping power.
Equipped with the new STaSIS tuning Challenge Extreme Edition package, the R8 4.2 is not only 99 pounds lighter than the stock R8 5.2, but also more powerful, quicker to 60 mph, and has greater lateral acceleration and braking deceleration figures.
The STaSIS Engineering Supercharged Audi R8 Challenge Extreme Edition will be available in the UK through APS of Brackley and the STaSIS sales network. Customers can also order individual accessories featured on the package.
