On May 28th at Chase Field in Beevile, Texas, driver Sean Kennedy strapped himself into the Hennessey Performance-tuned 2006 Ford GT1000 owned by Mark Heidaker to break the 200 mph barrier at the empty airfield.
The 2006 Ford GT was fitted with the twin-turbocharged GT1000 package from Hennessey Performance, pushing output to a total of 1,000 horsepower at 6,600 RPM. The Ford GT1000 is capable of a 2.9 second 0-60 mph time, 10.6-second at 142 mph quarter mile time, and a top speed of 245 mph. But, at the Texas Mile, it’s all about how fast you can go in just one mile.
During Memorial Day weekend, the twin turbo Ford GT achieved a run of 235.1 mph in the one mile stretch of airfield. Later on that weekend, the Ford GT100 was able to make a 232.3 mph run. Check out the two runs on video and listen to those turbos!
