We’d like to introduce you to our new Auto App Review feature on MotoringExposure.com. All of the cool kids have smart phones today, so we will be bringing your reviews of the latest and greatest automotive and car apps. We will focus more on the free apps so all of our fans with smart phones can have access to them. We hope you enjoy our latest feature!
For our first review, I’ll be taking a look at the recently-released MTM iPhone app on the iPhone 3GS. The MTM – Motoren Technik Mayer app can be downloaded for free through the iTunes store on your phone or computer.
The new iPhone car app is easy to get accustomed to if you have any sort of experience with technology. The “Home” screen has an excellent layout, with the latest news featured in the center of the screen and the five different content categories displayed at the bottom navigation bar. The only problem on the “Home” screen is the display asking you to download the new MTM iPhone app. If you accidentally touch the image and you’re taken to iTunes to download the app, sending you into a never-ending cycle of uselessness.
In the “News” category at the bottom, users can view the latest press releases and articles from MTM. Each release contains a brief article and set of corresponding picture gallery that can easily be viewed. Virtually every piece of news from all the way back to 2003 can be read here.
My favorite part of the MTM auto app is the “Cars” category. Every single car that MTM has developed and produced a product for can be viewed here. In “Cars,” the menu is broken down by vehicle make. Upon selecting a make, you’re taken to a new menu with every model, and then to the engine type for that model. When you’ve finally narrowed down your selections, you can view every production from MTM for your specific vehicle. Here, MTM will compare the modification to the stock part in terms of size, power gains, and even fuel consumption. Pictures of the modified cars are available so that you can see the end result of the upgrade along with PDF power charts. MTM also displays all of the contact information in case you would like to inquire about certain products.
Next in line at the bottom navigation bar is the “Videos” section. Here, MTM has a full list of videos that seamlessly takes your directly to the YouTube application on the iPhone. Everything from reviews, to comparisons with MTM cars can be found here from a variety of different publications.
The last category on the bottom menu is the “Dealers” tool. If you say “Yes” to the big eye in the sky, MTM will track your location and display the closest MTM-authorized dealerships. The tool also gives you the ability to zoom out and view all of the dealerships worldwide. Each dealership is given a red pin. Upon selecting the pin, the name and location of the dealer is displayed. MTM also provides you will all of the contact information for the selected dealership and website to view their products.
The new MTM – Motoren Technik Mayer app for the iPhone is easy to use and offers a wide range of helpful information. Whether you want to find upgrades for your car, check the latest news, or just watch videos of MTM cars, this app does it all. Plus, it’s free. If you’re any kind of automotive enthusiast like I am, this app is for you. It has my recommendation.
