Two flavors of Mercedes-Benz GL to suit your taste buds.
A.R.T. Tuning loves its Mercedes-Benz conversions, so much so that they have two different flavors of tuning and styling for the GL-Class SUV. For those that want to grab attention with some fender flares, there’s the A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 Wide Body, while the less conspicuous will gravitate towards the A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 Style.
Both the Mammut.2 conversion packages from A.R.T. Tuning have much of the same body work. The front fascia of the Mercedes-Benz GL gains a striking front bumper with large intakes, new mesh, polished stainless steel sports grille, new badging, and a special LED triple-beam headlight set with an LED high-beam, LED fog light, and LED position light on each side of the bumper. The butt of each A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 conversions have a beefed up bumper with center mesh, a new spoiler and diffuser combo, and an additional roof spoiler for some extra downforce. The body work for the A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 Style ends there, while the GL Mammut.2 Wide Body picks up some extended fender flares to show off some muscle.
Thanks to a variable adapter system, the A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 Style and Wide Body can be fitted with the same pair of forged wheels from the German tuner. The featured wheels are 11.0 x 23 forgeART1 wheels with 305/35 ZR12 tires. As an option, customers can also choose to install in-house monoART1 wheels in a 10.0 x 22 fitment with 305/35 ZR22 tires. Both sets of wheels can be fitted with a wide range of finishes to match or contrast the Mercedes-Benz GL.
While the A.R.T. GL Mammut.2 Style and Mammut.2 Wide Body may focus on visual upgrades, there’s still plenty of power under the hood. The GL350 BlueTEC models can benefit from a power module that boosts output to 310 metric horsepower (306 hp) and 516 lb-ft. of torque. The twin-turbocharged engines in the GL500 have three stages available and can go all the way up to 550 metric horsepower (543 hp) and 612 lb-ft. of torque. The top dog of the lineup, the GL 63 AMG, can also get boosted by three tuning stages, the most potent of which is a 680 metric horsepower (671 hp) and 737 lb-ft. of torque tune. All of the engines can howl through a sports exhaust system with quad 100-mm chrome-plated exhaust pipes poking out of the new rear bumper.
Inside, A.R.T. Tuning gave the GL Mammut.2 Style and Mammut.2 Wide Body a full range of custom-tailored luxury options. The centerpiece is a sports steering wheel with an ergonomic design wrapped in leather. The cabin can be wrapped in two-tone Nappa leather and Alcantara with contrasting stitching, diamond quilting, and a two-tone roof liner.
The new A.R.T. Tuning Mercedes-Benz GL Mammut.2 Style and GL Mammut.2 Wide Body conversions can be installed on any of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class models with the gasoline or diesel engines. Pricing has not been released.
