ABT Sportsline Audi R8 5.2 Exposed

With plenty of motorsport experience, ABT Sportsline has taken the powerful Audi R8 5.2 FSI and given the LeMans inspired sportscar a little lesson in DTM technology.

Using the same crew that helped win the company’s third consecutive DTM championship, ABT was able to create an R8 tuning package that is shockingly powerful with intimidating looks. With an increase of 75 hp and 15 lb-ft. of torque over the stock 525 hp and 391 lb-ft., the ABT R8 is able to rocket to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph. With 600 hp, DTM driver and ABT Sportline principal Christian Abt says the goal was to have the power “be available on the road”, making the ABT R8 impressive on paper as well as on the street.

Drawing upon motorsport experience, ABT designed new bodywork for the R8 using carbon materials to create an ideal weight distribution and further reduce weight. An all-new adjustable suspension has been installed to produce a comfortable and dynamic ride. A new front spoiler, side sills, front air dam, and rear apron give the ABT Audi R8 a striking presence on the road. A stacked exhaust with four pipes and new rear spoiler showcase the ABT R8’s superior performance. Replacing the stock 19-inch wheels on the ABT R8 are new AR or BR-type 20-inch wheels, available with high performance tires.
