A quick hatchback with some fun.
The Audi A3 Sportback does a great job of combining space, practicality, luxury, and sportiness in one five-door package. All that is fine and dandy for the average consumer, but some crave just a bit more fun and aggressiveness from their A3 Sportback, and ABT Sportsline has the solution – the AS3 Sportback.
The new ABT Sportsline AS3 Sportback focuses on making the entire car more exciting and dynamic and it all starts with the engines. To kick things off, the tuning company upgraded the 1.4 TFSI engine with 122 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque stock, to a peppy 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque. The other 2.0 TDI engine with 150 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. goes up to 170 horsepower and 266 lb-ft. of torque with the ABT Power “New Generation” upgrade. Both engines can be complemented by a set of new rear exhaust pipes for a touch of style. The ABT Sportsline team is also currently developing new tunes for the 1.6 TDI and the 1.8 TFSI engines as well.
The team also made sure that the chassis was up to par with the more powerful engines. A new set of suspension springs helps lower the ride height by 35 mm and provide a more athletic stance when combined with the DR alloy wheels in 8.5 x 18 or 8.5 x 19 sizes with 225/40 R18 or 225/35 R19 sport tires. For those that want even better all-around performance, ABT also offers a new brake upgrade that features 345 x 30 mm discs and steel flex lines.
The exterior of the ABT AS3 Sportback can also match the more dynamic performance with new aerodynamic body work. A new front spoiler helps generate a bit of downforce and is complemented by a sporty grille and front fender inserts. New side skirts visually lower the ride height and match the new design of the rear skirt insert and rear roof spoiler.
All of the upgrades on the new ABT Sportsline AS3 Sportback are currently available as an entire package or individual accessories from the German company.
