Turning up the temperature with the hot hatch.
The newest Audi S3 is one hell of a hot hatch. It’s so quick, that it even beat an Audi Sport quattro on a rally course. ABT Sportsline knew that the little sports car could be pumped up with some relatively simple tuning to make for “Utilisable fun” as CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt says.
Beneath the hood of the little monster is a 2.0 TFSI engine that’s been upgraded just a tad in terms of mechanics compared to the standard engines found throughout the Audi model range. The turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine spits out an impressive 300 horsepower in stock form and is ripe for tuning. The ABT Sportsline team pulled together all of their motorsports experience to create their ABT Power “New Generation” tune for the Audi S3. This boosted the 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. stock output all the way up to 370 horsepower and 339 lb-ft. of torque.
The added power helps to shave a total of 0.6 seconds off the 0-62 mph sprint, as the ABT S3 makes the run in just 4.6 seconds. Top speed is also pushed back all the way to 165 mph (265 km/h).
“This car is based upon ABT’s motor sports experience,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. “We applied all our technical know-how and our concept of a sporty, dynamic roadworthy racer.”
The most exciting part of the hot hatch is easily the tuned turbocharged engine. But, ABT Sportsline also offers a few other upgrades to make the package complete. Customers can choose from 18-, 19-, and 20-inch ABT DR Sport wheels and their ten curved spokes or double-spoke ER-C alloy wheels with a complete set of sport performance tires for better grip. A pair of subtle fender inserts round of the exterior upgrades.
The new ABT Sportsline Audi S3 is currently available as an entire upgrade program or as individual accessories. Pricing has not been released.
