The history of Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH began in 1961 when company founder, Burkard Bovensiepen, developed a Weber dual carberatuer for the BMW 1500. After much praise, Bovensiepen established Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH in 1965 with a staff of eight. After working exclusively with BMW models for competition and road use and achieving multiple motorsport victories, Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH became officially registered as an automobile manufacturer in 1983. The company produces less than 2,000 models per year, and is the only officially-approved manufacturer to assist in BMW chassis and engine development.
