Turbo Tuning!
Although some of the most legendary and iconic Ferrari models have been turbocharged, the idea of forced induction is still foreign to some of the Prancing Horse’s die-hard enthusiasts. That’s slowly changing with modern times as engines get smaller and turbochargers become more prominent.
Already, the Ferrari California T ushered in a new, modern era for the Italian automaker with its twin-turbocharged V-8. It was shortly followed by the twin-turbocharged Ferrari 488 GTB. Although the high-revving days of naturally-aspirated engines are heading towards the past, tuning companies such as Alpha-N Performance are very excited.
Turbochargers offer greater tuning potential, and Alpha-N Performance is already taking advantage. In the Ferrari 488 GTB, the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 was equipped with a new plug-and-play Alpha-N EVOX control unit. The relatively simple upgrade takes the factory 670 horsepower, 561 lb-ft. of torque output and pushes it to 790 horsepower and 634 lb-ft.
The Ferrari California T and its twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine also benefits from the Alpha-N EVOX plug-and-play control unit. Here, the factory 560 horsepower and 557 lb-ft. of torque grows all the way up to 680 horsepower and 644 lb-ft. of torque.
The Alpha-N EVOX performance ECU plug-and-play control modules are available for both the Ferrari California T and 488 GTB for just 2,999 Euros and can be installed by the customer.
