Basic upgrades make for a blast to drive.
The new BMW 4-Series and its 3-Series siblings have a reputation for being superb driver’s cars and the team at Alpha-N Performance is looking to further that legacy with their new upgrade program. While it’s not an all-out, extensive tuning program, the relatively inexpensive and straightforward modifications make a world of difference behind the wheel.
For the BMW 4-Series model line, Alpha-N Performance opted to focus on the TwinPower Turbo 435i and the turbodiesel 435d variants that both pack some untapped potential.
In the BMW 435i with 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque stock, Alpha-N Performance installed their EVOX PowerPlus ECU tuning box. The software modification pushes the turbocharged inline-six to 367 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. of torque.
The oil-burning sibling in the 435d was also given an in-house EVOX PowerPlus ECU tuning box that alters the software controlling the turbodiesel inline-six. The factory 309 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque output grows up to an impressive 374 horsepower and monstrous 546 lb-ft. of torque. This also comes with the strong recommendation that a larger intercooler be installed to accommodate for the new tune.
Customers that are happy with more power can stop there, but Alpha-N Performance also offers up a new wheel and tire package along with an adjustable suspension. New 8.5 x 19 ET29 OZ Racing Superturismo alloy wheels can be installed with a set of 235/35 R19 and 255/30 R19 sports tires for added grip. A fully-adjustable Ohlins Road & Track coilover suspension can also be installed that allows for the ride height to be lowered by 25 mm without affecting the ride comfort.
All of the aforementioned upgrades are currently available from Alpha-N Performance for the BMW 435i and 435d. The EVOX power upgrades are priced at 699 euros for each model with the additional intercooler costing an extra 690 euros. The complete wheel and tire setup is also available from 2,300 euros.
