A memorable 24 hours.
In the last 15 years, Audi has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans an astonishing 12 times with their LMP1 racecars. The 2013 endurance race saw the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro take the checkered flag once again, and overcome the awful conditions during the 24 hours. Like they always say, “It always rains at Le Mans,” and sure enough it did.
Audi was able to overcome these obstacles with their three cars and take the first overall victory from Toyota’s hybrids.
The race was filled with emotions ranging from joy to the deepest of sadness. The unfortunate passing of Aston Martin driver, Allan Simonsen, at the start of the race was tragic and brought a sense of just how dangerous the sport really is. Audi also paid tribute to Simonsen and reminds us of the courage that it takes to drive at Le Mans.
