Four flavors of fun stuff… with sprinkles!
What makes the new Audi RS3 such a fun car is its potential to be turned up to 11 on the performance scale thanks to its turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five engine. The team at B&B Automobiltechnik worked their engineering magic and came up with four tuning stages along with some other extra goodies to give the hot hatch super car performance.
The first stage of tuning gives the 2.5 TFSI engine a software tune that optimizes fuel and ignition mapping while increasing boost pressure by 0.2 BAR (2.9 PSI). That’s good
for a healthy 430 horsepower ad 457 lb-ft. of torque.
Next up is Stage 2, which includes an optimized air intake setup for the 2.5 TFSI engine from B&B Automobiltechnik. A full software ECU tune is also installed and boost rises by 0.25 BAR (3.6 PSI) over the factory setup, resulting in 450 horsepower and 483 lb-ft. of torque.
Bringing more power to the table in the Audi RS3 is Stage 3. Here, B&B Automobiltechnik upgrades the air intake system even further and includes an in-house intercooler with a free-flow sports exhaust system. An ECU remap makes it all work together and produce 485 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque.
The top-dog in the lineup is Stage 4. Here, the Audi RS3 becomes a super car thanks to a larger, bespoke turbocharger, racing exhaust with free-flow catalytic converters, a high-flow fuel pump, oil-cooling system, optimized forced air induction piping, and software tune. That results in 550 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque, which sends the hot hatch to 62 mph from rest in 3.3 seconds and to a top speed in excess of 186 mph.
Individually, B&B Automobiltechnik can install a variety of their upgrades on the Audi RS3 if owners so choose. A custom downpipe and sport catalytic converter can be ordered as a package or customers can opt for the full sports exhaust with high-flow catalytic converter as well. Those with the big bucks can throw down for the racing system with metal catalytic converter for maximum power.
In terms of handling, the Audi RS3 can be lowered with the addition of in-house springs by 30 mm or a fully-adjustable B&B/KW coilover suspension can be installed for optimized performance. New B&B RS3 8V brakes with 396 mm vented discs up front help improve stopping power while hiding under the factory 19-inch wheels. But, if customers want a new look, they can opt for in-house B10 alloys that measure 8.5 x 20 on both axles and come shod in 235/30 ZR20 sport tires.
