And it’s not even legal in California…
Early in the 2000s, Maserati engineers began development on an FIA GT-eligible racer alongside of a road-going variant to meet homologation standards. The car would become the Maserati MC12, and while it was based on the Enzo Ferrari, it had its own special character. A total of 55 cars were made after the high demand and all wore a white and blue paint scheme that paid homage to the America Camoradi racing team that raced the Maserati Tipo Birdcages in the 1960s – except one.
Only one of those Maserati MC12s was Nero (black) instead of the standard white and blue scheme, and not it’s for sale at Ferrari of Newport Beach in Los Angeles, California.
The lone Nero Maserati MC12 has just 1,322 miles on the clock and has the standard blue and carbon fiber interior. The 2005 model-year MC12 has the semi-automatic six-speed gearbox and a 6.0-liter V-12 engine pumping out 620 horsepower and 481 lb-ft. of torque driving the rear wheels. All of the ultra-lightweight materials from aluminum to carbon fiber are used throughout the chassis and body of the MC12, while race-proven technology and aerodynamics help make it a true supercar. Acceleration is incredibly quick, as the supercar takes just 3.8 seconds to reach 62 mph and can hit a top speed of 205 mph.
The hand-built 2005 Maserati MC12 comes with the original keys, books, and cover and is road-legal in 49 states, ironically not in California, the state that it is being sold in currently. The super-rare Maserati MC12 is for sale at Ferrari of Newport Beach and comes with a price tag that’s so high that if you have to ask, then you can’t afford.
