Tune It! Safe! comes to Dubai.
There is a lot of speed in Dubai. Seeing supercars, exotic cars, ultra-luxury cars, and sports cars with a wide range of custom-tailored styling and high-performance tuning is the norm in this super-rich part of the world. The presence of speed is so prevalent here, that Tune It! Safe!, an initiative supported by the German government and various aftermarket tuning companies, has teamed up with Brabus and the Dubai police department for a new Brabus B63S – 700 Widestar to help raise awareness and patrol the streets.
Tune It! Safe! has been quite successful in Europe with raising awareness for driving safety with the idea that safe automobile tuning and safe motoring are closely linked and need to be mutually exclusive. The initiative is looked to spread the word into the UAE at the Dubai International Motor Show from November 5th through 9th at the Dubai World Trade Center. The message will be on full display with a new Brabus-sponsored B63S – 700 Widestar based on the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG.
The new Brabus B63S – 700 Widestar will wear Dubai police livery and be used to raise awareness for safe automobile tuning and driving enjoyment while also working to catch those bad guys.
Under the hood of the B63S – 700 Widestar is the 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 engine powering the G 63 AMG luxury off-roader. Brabus used their B63S – 700 engine tuning upgrade program along with a full valve-controlled exhaust system with chrome tailpipes to emit a powerful note and reduce backpressure. With the upgrades, power is boosted up to 700 horsepower and 708 lb-ft. of torque from 2,000 to 4,500 RPM, launching the police SUV to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and to a top speed of 149 mph.
The Brabus B63S – 700 Widestar isn’t just a basic Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG wearing Dubai law enforcement livery. It has a full aerodynamic styling package that makes it look just as powerful as its 700 horsepower engine. A full Widestar widebody kit that includes extended front and rear fenders, door add-ons, and side-step illumination adds some visual muscle while a new bumper add-on and LED daytime running lights change the face of the G63 AMG. At the rear sits a new bumper with underbody protection and a spoiler to generate downforce on the boxy SUV at high speeds.
Ensuring that the off-road SUV maintains its balance on the road are a few chassis goodies from Brabus. The B63S – 700 Widestar for Dubai police wears a set of 11.0 x 23 Monoblock R Platinum Edition forged wheels with 305/35 R23 performance tires for added grip and style. When police do need to chase through the desert sands, the Brabus Dynamic Ride Control suspension is up for the challenge and has modes for sport and comfort.
Even though the Brabus B63S – 700 Widestar is a police vehicle, it does offer a wealth of interior refinements. Entrance panels with illuminated Brabus logos greet law enforcement officers and any criminals that may be stowed away in the back. Black floor mats with leather edging, aluminum door lock pins and foot pedals finish the lower-half of the high-performance SUV while perforated and quilted leather trim adorns the seating and carbon fiber sits on the dashboard.
