The 1976 F1 season coming to a theatre near you!
Mark your calendars for September 20th, 2013 racing fans! The new movie, RUSH, will have you on the edge of your seats as it details the brave comeback by driver Niki Lauda after his horrific accident on the Nürburgring.
Prior to the 1976 German Grand Prix on the Nürburgring, Lauda tried to boycott the race due to safety concerns. On the track, Lauda’s car suffered a mechanical failure and hit an embankment before coming back onto the track and in the way of Brett Lunger, who collided with the disabled car and caused flames and toxic exhaust fumes to consume Lauda and his car. Driers were able to pull Lauda from the wreckage but he suffered burns on his face and body, and later fell into a coma. Six weeks later, he returned to racing and battled his rival, James Hunt.
The new film, directed by Ron Howard and written by Peter Morgan, details the rivalry and accident between Lauda and Hunt during the 1976 Formula One season.
We’ll be camping outside the movie theatre on opening night.
