If Volkswagen enthusiasts ever wanted an even more potent version of the cult-like GTI model, they could always upgrade to the R32 and its acoustically-sensational 3.2-liter VR6 engine. It provided a decent power band and all-wheel drive, but was a thirsty motor and didn’t have much tuning potential outside of adding some new forced-induction. The new Volkswagen Golf R gave us an all-new, hotter version of the 2.0-liter FSI turbocharged-four packed with potential for those GTI drivers that want even better performance. Now, Cam Shaft Premium Car Wrapping has tapped into that potential and given the car an electrically-charged up style.
The 2.0-liter FSI engine may not have the sound or character of the naturally-aspirated VR6 found in the R32 models, but it packs quite a punch with its standard 270 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque. The German car wrapping specialists enlisted the help of MTB-vehicle engineering who installed a Stage 2 software tune along with platinum spark plugs and an exhaust system that includes a new downpipe and sport catalytic converters. This helps push output all the way up to 325 horsepower and 317 lb-ft. of torque to make it an even hotter hatch.
Much of the chassis and driving dynamics have been altered thanks to new modifications from other European companies. New H&R sport springs help sharpen up handling and help keep the OZ Ultraleggera wheels and performance tires stuck to the asphalt. Behind those wheels sit F2000 Tarox brake discs with sport pads to help slow things down at a quicker, more reliable pace.
But it’s the exterior where the Cam Shaft Premium Car Wrapping Volkswagen Golf R really shines and shows that it’s not your average hot hatch. The entire car was wrapped in a new Electric Orange foil designed by BRUXSAFOL features a vibrant orange color at the front that begins to peel away and reveal a special camouflage at the A-pillar towards the rear.
All of the upgrades featured on the Cam Shaft Volkswagen Golf R including the special wrap are currently available for customers. Pricing has not been released.
