Sitting at the top one percent of the automotive industry is Rolls Royce. For the vast majority of automotive enthusiasts the company represents the epitome of luxury and prestige. While most of us will never drive or own Rolls, the British automaker is giving us the next best thing – a Rolls Royce Ghost car app!
The new Rolls Royce Ghost app is available for free from the iTunes library. Opening the car app brings you to a screen with a Ghost off to the side facing towards you. After pressing anywhere on the screen a short film begins to play quickly detailing the newest Rolls Royce model.
The main menu in the Rolls Royce Ghost app is pretty basic. All of the selectable options are neatly laid out at the bottom and a slide show of pictures is playing in the background. Upon selecting “Design Your Ghost”, a mediocre three-dimensional Ghost appears along with a menu that offers different exterior and interior upgrades and a personal garage. Users can rotate the three-dimensional Ghost to see all aspects of the interior and exterior of the car. The Rolls Royce Ghost app is a pretty basic configurator, allowing different paints, leather colors, wood veneers, and options. If you design the perfect Ghost, the car app allows you to save it in your “Garage” and load it at a future time.
Selecting “Media Library” in the main menu gives you the option to choose between a selection of pictures, films, and technical specifications for either the standard Rolls Royce Ghost or Extended Wheelbase model. Two different films along with the standard set of press photos are present for each variant. The technical specifications are pretty detailed and give metric and US standard measurements.
The rest of the functions in the Rolls Royce Ghost app are nothing out of the ordinary. Selecting “Website” or “Find a Dealer” brings you to the official Rolls Royce Ghost website. The “Legal” function is just the standard mumbo jumbo the automaker had to include in the app.
The Rolls Royce Ghost app is nothing groundbreaking or extraordinary. If you are a Rolls Royce enthusiast, the app will suit your basic needs to build and design your own personal Ghost. For gearheads looking for a fun and exciting car app, you may want to look elsewhere.
