Cartel Customs Gives the Scion FR-S Some Boost and Louvres

Scion FR-S T1

And a Targa Top for some sun!

The big SEMA Show is upon us and automakers and tuning companies are showcasing their latest and greatest in Las Vegas with the hopes of making a statement in motoring. Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs certainly will be commanding some attention with the new Scion FR-S T1, a Targa-topped, turbocharged, sports car – complete with Louvres!

The standard Scion FR-S isn’t going to blow the doors off of other higher-priced sports cars, but it’s going to serve up some of the best handling dynamics on the road. The FR-S T1 takes care of the power deficiency as well as the open-air driving pleasure with some classic ‘80s-style louvres at the rear.

The complete Scion FR-S T1 was handcrafted by Lookofsky of Cartel Customs with its black targa top sitting above the custom Azzura California Blue paint on the body. The entire body was extended with an all-metal widebody kit fabricated to emphasize power and the athleticism of the sports car. An integrated rear spoiler blends in perfectly and sits behind the black rear window louvres.

Filling in those generously proportioned fenders are custom 19-inch, three-piece forged wheels with a classic mesh design. Behind those rims sits a powerful Wilwood Big Brake Kit with customized nickel-plated finish and a KW coilover suspension that sets up the perfect stance.

The 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-four engine coming from the factory isn’t a drag-strip-superhero, but Lookofsky was able to rectify that with some upgrades. The engine was boosted with a new GReddy street turbocharger kit to give acceleration and performance a big enhancement and make carving up corners even more exciting. Belting out a loud roar is a centrally-mounted center exhaust.

“It’s an honor being involved with Scion for the seventh consecutive year bringing design concepts to reality and setting the bar for the SEMA Show,” said Lookofsky. “We have won two Mothers® design awards and SEMA fan favorite awards throughout the years, and I’m pretty confident our FR-S will come home on a positive note as well.”

The final touch is a new OEM Audio+ system 400 paired up with a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX head unit if the turbocharger spooling doesn’t provide enough audible entertainment.

The new Scion FR-S T1 by Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs will be on display alongside other custom Scion builds at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
