One more victory lap.
Twenty years ago, McLaren dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 1995 race saw a McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ earn four of the top five finishers, one of which was the overall race winner. It was an incredible feat that will likely never be replicated by a single automaker again with such a competitive field.
At the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, McLaren had to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the race with one more victory lap. The lap saw drivers Yannik Dalmas, JJ Lehto, and others pilot the McLaren P1 GTR, McLaren P1, five McLaren F1 GTR racers, and the last McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ that was ever built around the track.
The victory lap was a glorious show of power, speed, and heritage, and also displayed just how mind-bogglingly fast the P1 GTR is compared to the race cars from two decades past.
Turn up the speakers and enjoy the ride!
