In 1966, Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus, moved the automobile manufacturer to a purpose-built facility located in Hethel, Norfolk in place of the old RAF Hethel airfield. For the past 50 years, the factory and engineering centers have been the home of every Lotus model. With 2016 marking its Golden Anniversary in the British village, Lotus is celebrating with a range of special models, starting with the Evora 400 Hethel Edition.

“The Evora 400 is the latest in a long line of world-beating sports and racing cars to have all been hand built in Hethel over the last 50 years,” said Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Group Lotus plc. “We are immensely proud to be part of the community and it is entirely fitting that this limited edition be dedicated to our home. We’re looking forward to celebrating our connections to Norfolk throughout 2016, and more Lotus Hethel Anniversary news will be announced soon”.

The new Lotus Evora 400 Hethel Edition wears three classic color schemes: Essex Blue, Motorsport Black, and Racing Green with black or red leather, or Alcantara interiors. Each color comes with specific graphics to set it apart from the rest of the pack, along with lightweight silver-finished forged aluminum wheels with contrasting colored brake calipers.

While the new Hethel Edition focuses on giving the Lotus Evora 400 a unique exterior design, the inner workings of the sports car are still as exciting as ever. The supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine spits out 400 horsepower and 302 lb-ft. of torque mated to a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes with a limited-slip differential controlling power. Two-piece AP Racing brake calipers with 370 mm discs work with the taught suspension controlled by the Lotus Dynamic Performance Management system to slice and dice corners.

The incredible low overall weight and strong engine give the Lotus Evora 400 Hethel Edition the same 4.1-second 0-60 mph acceleration time and 186 mph top speed (manual), ensuring there is loads of fun to be had on the asphalt.
