Little bit of luck and a little bit of talent.
Racing of any kind is very hard and requires a great deal of skill. That’s especially true when it comes to hillclimb events that have racing teams push the limits of their cars around sharp turns, up steep hills, and through tough obstacles. It also helps to have a little bit of luck on your side as well.
At the Nulon Nationals in Australia, one Honda Civic driver saw just how scary it can be as well. Upon exiting a turn, the driver oversteered, lost control, and almost skidded backwards right into a concrete barrier. Luckily, the driver was able to recover and finish the run, but as one marshal said, they were “about a foot” away from smacking that barrier.
