Dodge’s New Challenging Challengers

New Dodge Challenger

The muscle car is back at Dodge!

Dodge is taking this 100th Anniversary to the absolute limit. There is a new announcement almost every week. Today, we present the 2015 Challenger SRT 392; 475 lb-ft. of torque tricked-out and loaded to the gills with power and presence. We also introduce the 2015 Challenger Hellcat and its estimated 600+ horsepower, making it the most powerful Chrysler — ever!

Before you go running out to your Dodge dealer to sign on the bottom line, please be advised; the Hellcat has a blower. Yes it is supercharged, which is the quick way to get power, but the car also benefits from good old-fashioned Uummph!! The engine is made from material that is conducive to heat and has strengthened internals.

A six-speed rower or eight speed auto with paddles will be available on both cars. New drive mods will change the driving experience by controlling power, shifting, steering and paddle response. Suspension and traction control are thrown into the mix as well. There are Sport, Track and Default settings expected for the dubious Dodges to handle mornings at the market and afternoons at the track.

The Challenger SRT Hellcat gets two individual keys: One in black for reduced output and another red one to unleash the full 600-plus-horsepower output. There is even a PIN-activated Valet mode for both variants that, among other things, limits power and access to the first gear.

The Challenger SRT duo also share the same visual updates as the regular 2015 Challenger and SXT, including front-end styling inspired by the iconic 1971 Challenger, such as the split grille. As a special touch, the aluminum hood gets an intake inspired by hood on the Viper launched in 1996. Other SRT-specific elements include the 20-inch forged wheels with available Pirelli P Zero tires, Brembo brakes, lowered suspension and the large splitter. The brakes are the biggest ever fitted to an SRT vehicle and feature two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers up front.

Final specifications will be announced closer to the market launch later this year. I promise, unless they leak a press release about a car powered by uranium, I will cease from Dodge talk for a while.
