edo competition Koenigsegg CCR Exposed

A Swedish supercar with German brawn.

edo competition Motorsport is always up for a challenge. The German-based tuner has transformed many supercars and exotics into custom-tailored machines with vast amounts of power. They have even transformed “base” models into their performance variants when asked. So, when a Koenigsegg CCR owner came to them asking for more power, some new looks, and a more refined drive, edo competition was more than ready.

It’s not often that an owner of an 800+ horsepower supercar asks for more power. But, for one CCR owner, it just wasn’t enough. They wanted to go even faster. The stock 4.7-liter V-8 in the Koenigsegg CCR is force-fed by two superchargers that produce a broad torque curve. edo competition engineers decided to focus on this aspect of the engine to preserve the wide power curve and increase power. Working in conjunction with Rotrex, the manufacturer of the superchargers, edo competition was able to upgrade the drive ratio and ECU, resulting in 891 horsepower (based on level of tune). Due to the modified drive ratio, the engine redline had to be lowered to 7,200 RPM in order to ensure the reliability of the superchargers.

The other area edo’s engineering team focused on upgrading was the transmission. The entire six-speed transmission was disassembled and rebuilt, while the plastic bushings were replaced with Uniball components. The overhauled gearbox resulted in a peak torque curve from 3,700 to 6,000 RPM. Top speed was lowered slightly from 242 mph in order to improve acceleration and drivability.

Even though the edo competition Koenigsegg CCR may be too fast to recognize after being tuned, the company still upgraded a number of exterior and interior components. The front end was slightly redesigned with new elements and auxiliary lights to resemble the CCX models. The wheels were also visually enhanced with new charcoal paint. Inside, edo competition has transformed the interior with soft alcantara with contrasting white stitching. An infotainment system was also installed into the center console and features a back-up camera and pouch for the immobilizer remote. The dashboard was modified to accommodate a new tire pressure monitoring system for safety.

If you are one of the 14 owners that were lucky enough to purchase the rare Koenigsegg CCR, edo competition is one of the few tuning companies currently able to upgrade and modify the Swedish exotic. Pricing and performance details for the edo competition Koenigsegg CCR were not officially released, but you can bet it cost a pretty penny and drives like a bat out of hell!
