Back and better than ever.
In 2010, edo competition took a stock Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 and gave it 710 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. With the added power, the German tuner was able to set a new world record for being the fastest Lamborghini Murciélago with a top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h). Fast forward a year and the engineers at edo competition are at it again with a newer, more powerful record-breaking Lamborghini Murciélago.
Dubbed the LP 750, the new Murciélago tuning program from edo competition pushes the limits of the 6.5-liter engine. Helping the mighty V-12 suck in more air is a new high-flow airbox, modified cylinder heads, a hand-made intake manifold, and modified air ducts. The intake modifications improve air mass and velocity to achieve the higher power figures for a record top speed. Further boosting power are new, more aggressive camshafts, high-performance headers, a stainless steel exhaust, and a new ECU to ensure all the modifications work together. The new exhaust features remote-controlled butterfly valves allowing drivers to create a custom V-12 symphony. All of the engine modifications add up to an astonishing 750 horsepower and 546 lb-ft. of torque.
The additional power required engineers to reinforce the drivetrain with a new single-plate clutch. Additionally, customers can also request that the standard all-wheel drive system be converted to rear-wheel drive, saving 88 lbs. in weight and improving vehicle handling.
All of the modifications help to push the LP 750 to a world record 227 mph (365 km/h) top speed – eight faster than the previous model. The sprint to 62 mph takes 3.1 seconds, 124 mph is achieved in only 9.7 seconds, and 186 mph takes just 24.5 seconds to reach.
In order to break the record for top speed, edo competition had to design new aerodynamic bodywork and fit high-speed wheels and tires. The biggest change with the new aerodynamic package is the redesigned rear wing that uses an adjustable lip spoiler to provide optimum rear downforce. New ultra-lightweight 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels have been installed and wear special 265/35 ZR 18 front and 345/30 ZR 19 rear Michelin tires that are able to handle the high speeds.
The new edo competition Lamborghini Murciélago LP 750 is currently available. Pricing for the entire package has not been released.
