Edox, watch manufacturer since 1884, was always known for their ultra thin watches. Now that a number of brands are returning to their roots, which means creating ultra thin watches again, Edox hits the markets with an eye catching 48mm diameter sports watch. The WRC Chronorally is a timepiece dedicated to drivers and fans of the World Rally Championship, offering a plethora of new possibilities: stage timing with an accumulated stage time, recount/replay mode, countdown mode and chronograph. The sub dial on 9 o’clock displays which function is in use.
All the timer / chronograph functions are easily accessible by using the pushers and the crown. Due to its over sized design, even rally drivers using gloves have easy access to these functions.
The design of the watch has some nice details, reminding us about rally cars. The rubber strap has the structure of a tyre and the case back is based on a wheel rim. The dial is made out of carbon, a common material in the world of rally cars.
As for the technical specifications of this watch, as already mentioned, the size is 48mm in diameter and approximately 15mm in height. Not suitable for everyone, but it will provide you a good look at all the features on the dial.
Furthermore, the movement ticking inside is Edox caliber 36, based on a Soprod movement. With a diameter of 36mm, this is a fairly large movement (standard ETA movements are about 28mm).
The case of the watch is stainless steel and has both polished and brushed parts, playing nicely with the rays of the sun. The pusher at two o’clock is made out of red anodized aluminium. The strap is made out of rubber and closes with a stainless steel Edox signed clasp. This watch has a water resistance of 100 meters (10ATM).
List price of the Edox WRC Chronorally will be 1975 Euro / 2400 USD.
