The Mercedes-AMG GT S is the hardcore sports car that spits out some classic AMG nastiness from its twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. It’s a tactical German weapon and this Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 with RENNtech upgrades and ADV10 M.V2 CS Series forged wheels has both power and prestige.
The high-quality, “one man, one engine” level of craftsmanship makes the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 an absolute monster unlike anything else on the road. But on this Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1, the RENNtech team was enlisted to take power to the next level.
Here, RENNtech upgraded the two turbochargers sitting in the “V” of the engine. New lightweight forged billet turbine wheels, a larger stock impeller, bigger turbine trim, and CNC-machined housings keep lag to a minimum despite having an increased size compared to the stock units.
After some software tuning, the new RENNtech turbochargers produce up 180 horsepower and 161 lb-ft. of torque more than the factory output, for a total of 683 horsepower and 640 lb-ft. of torque. That means the 0-60 mph acceleration time is less than the factory 3.7 seconds.
Handling all of that power is no easy task, but the ADV.1 team was up for the task. The weapon of choice was their ADV10 M.V2 CS Series wheels made from 6061-T6 treated forged aluminum alloy to keep weight to a minimum. The two-piece, 10-spoke wheels are weight-optimized to ensure maximum overall performance as well.
On this Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1, the ADV10 M.V2 CS Series wheels were installed in a staggered 10.0 x 20 front and 12.5 x 21 rear setup that emphasizes the rear-wheel drive layout. Each wheel also dazzles with a classic Brushed Aluminum and Clear finish that adds just enough contrast to the factory body color.
Armed with the new RENNtech turbos and ADV.1 forged wheels, this Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 is a German powerhouse.
