Turning a modern supercar into an instant classic.
Ferrari’s classic heritage is engrained in their DNA. The racing success and passion that Enzo Ferrari poured into his cars is what makes these sports cars from Maranello so special. So when one exclusive client asked Ferrari to build a custom one-off F12Berlinetta inspired by a Maranello classic, Designer, Flavio Manoni, and the Ferrari Style Center was happy to oblige.
Called the Ferrari F12 TRS, the new open-top sports barchetta is an extreme two-seater that takes inspiration from the 1957 250 Testa Rossa. Based on the F12Berlinetta, the F12 TRS has been reworked from the inside-out to reflect the classic sporting spirit of the 250 Testa Rossa in a modern package. The entire body is covered in a traditional Rosa Corsa paint that was developed using multi-layer and micalised paint technology for a vibrant look.
The front fascia of the new Ferrari F12 TRS has a more pronounced, sharp nose that flows into a rounded form that moves into the hood and fenders. The red cylinder heads of the 6.2-liter V-12 engine peek through the window inside the hood before meeting a low, angled windshield that wraps around and tapers off towards the rear, creating a dark glass contrast to the vibrant red body. The front aerobridges featured on the F12Berlinetta have a more sculpted design that runs from the hood all the way to the rear fender.
The rear of the Ferrari F12 TRS has an evolved T-shaped graphic found on the F12Berlinetta and incorporates the shape of the cabin. A pair of fairings runs from the headrests and into the rear spoiler with a smooth piece of bodywork between. An aerodynamic channel is integrated into the underbody and creates a Ventrui effect for stability at high speeds in conjunction with a vent positioned beneath the spoiler.
The Ferrari F12 TRS may be inspired by a classic, but it has all the modern power and speed you’ll ever need. The 6.2-liter V-12 engine churns out 730 horsepower (740 CV) and 508 lb-ft. at 9,000 RPM. That’s good enough to send the one-off to 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds and to 124 mph in 8.5 ticks of the clock.
Inside, it’s clear that the Ferrari F12 TRS was built for performance. The cockpit was cleared of non-essential luxuries such as air conditioning controls, glove compartment, center air vents, floor mats, audio, window controls, and holders for the sake of weight. Black matte carbon fiber, leather, and alcantara are the three materials used throughout the entire cabin alongside the multi-layered red paint on the central tunnel and door panels.
The new Ferrari F12 TRS made its debut at the 2014 Ferrari Cavalcade where 90 special Ferraris go on parade in Sicily. Only one of the F12 TRS models has been made and came with a very hefty price tag.
