Inspired by two icons in style.
China has quickly grown into a very profitable marketplace for automakers from inexpensive automobiles to high-end supercars. Ferrari, along with numerous other high-end automakers have been shifting a great deal of their attention on the booming market. At the 2015 Auto Shanghai, Ferrari unveiled their specially-designed California T that showcases the brand’s “Tailor Made” program for customers.
The goal for the Ferrari design team was to create a timeless and sophisticated style that stands out from the crowd while showcasing the capabilities of the custom-tailored program. The designers drew inspiration from two classic style icons: actress Ingrid Bergman and Jaqueline Kennedy and her family.
Bergman was the source of inspiration for the new “Grigo Ingrid” color for the exterior. The same color was worn by the Ferrari 375 MM that Roberto Rossellini gifted her in 1954. With the top down, the real custom-tailored opulence is on display.
Only the best materials were used for the interior of the one-off Ferrari California T. A special “count prestige” reddish brown leather with a soft, velvety texture takes its design from the Kenedee chair by Jean Marie Masssaud. This piece of furniture was heavily influenced by the style of the former First Family of the Kennedys, especially First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, whose style and redecoration of the White House in 1961 made quite a statement.
The soft leather seats with their unique leather design feature contemporary black alcantara inserts while the leather center console and door inserts boast waxed edges. Special matte grey metallic details are shown on the dashboard and center console, and mirror the exterior color of the convertible. Below the beltline sit 100-percent virgin wool from New Zealand with natural jute background showcasing Ferrari’s attention-to-detail.
