Bad things can and will happen.
There’s a reason why racecar drivers have special tires and drive differently in the rain. It makes asphalt very slippery, especially at high speeds. For road-legal cars, tires can only do so much. Even a high-performance super car packed with all-wheel drive won’t be enough to save you once those tires lose grip.
Just take this driver of a Lamborghini Murciélago in Russia as an example. Drivers on the Novorizhskoe highway were cautiously driving in the heavy rain, when suddenly a wild chrome-wrapped Lamborghini Murciélago appears from out of nowhere, sideways. The exotic spun out of control, and hit the guard rail on the median before coming to a stop.
The Lamborghini was reportedly going over 124 mph, which on road conditions like this, is just asking for an accident. And, what the driver got, was a pretty bad accident.
Don’t be stupid and drive recklessly, especially in poor road conditions.
