Forged wheels and 700 ponies!
The big, bad BMW X5 M is a monster of power in its own right, however it still manages to hold onto some untapped potential. G-Power and their team of engineers were able to create some special goodies that unlock that power to put a big smile on the faces of drivers.
The 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 power plant that the beastly BMW SUV uses has a fantastic 567 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque right from the get-go. But, that wasn’t enough for these Germans. G-Power offers a choice of their Bi-Tronik 5 performance plug-and-play module or a Bi-Tronik 2 bespoke ECU software remapping to increase power. The Bi-Tronik 5 module can be easily installed and activated/deactivated while the Bi-Tronik 2 remap gives a more custom-tailored programming improving characteristics such as throttle response and power delivery written directly into the ECU’s software. Both options keep the factory protection and diagnostic functions of the ECU intact.
However, the choice of electronic tuning wasn’t enough for G-Power engineers with the BMW X5 M. The team also added on a performance exhaust system that includes flow-optimized stainless steel downpipes and 200-cell racing catalytic converters to reduce backpressure. After the fun stuff is installed, the V-8 engine produces a mighty 700 horsepower and 667 lb-ft. of torque.
As an option, G-Power can also remove the factory top speed limiter that allows the SUV to reach whatever speed its 700 horsepower engine dictates.
That’s a lot of power to handle and G-Power’s newest line of forged wheels were more than up to the task. The German company developed their best line of forged wheels to-date using superlight aerospace-quality forged aluminum alloy to reduce rotating mass while achieving superb strength characteristics for maximum performance.
The featured wheels on the BMW X5 M are G-Power’s new Hurricane RR forged wheels that are lighter than the factory wheels, even though they measure a massive 23 inches in diameter. The Jet Black finished five twin-spoke wheels also come equipped with 315/25 R23 tires that improve overall grip and steering response to make the SUV even quicker on its feet.
G-Power is currently offering all of the aforementioned upgrades for the F85-generation BMW X5 M as a complete package or individual accessories.
