For those with an appetite for power.
G-Power may be a German company, but it’s serving up American-sized portions of power for the F10 BMW M5. The chefs at G-Power have cooked up three different courses of heart-pumping power for the sports sedan that can take the factory 560 horsepower output all the way up to a whopping 740 ponies.
The appetizer from G-Power is a choice of their Bi-Tronik 5 V1 performance module or Bi-Tronik 2 V1 bespoke software tune. The former uses a microprocessor-controlled module that functions as a plug-and-play unit, while the latter is a custom software remap that tuned specific aspects to the customer’s wishes. No matter which option the customer chooses, the BMW M5 is capable of producing 650 horsepower and 612 lb-ft. of torque.
Next up is the main course where the 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 really starts to stretch its legs. Both of the G-Power tunes are matched with a new flow-optimized exhaust system that includes new stainless steel downpipes with or without 200-cell racing catalytic converters. Thanks to the reduction in backpressure, the BMW M5 can produce a thundering 700 horsepower and 667 lb-ft. of torque.
For those that with elastic waistbands and a lead foot, there’s the third stage of tuning for the BMW M5 from G-Power. Here, the Bi-Tonik 2 V3 tuning setup is paired up with a full titanium exhaust system that cuts backpressure and sheds 23 lbs. of weight, ending in four 100-mm titanium or carbon tailpipes. The two upgrades result in a monstrous 740 horsepower and 719 lb-ft. of torque.
Of course, there’s dessert as well in the form of new lightweight G-Power Hurricane RR forged wheels. The 9.0 x 21 front and 10.5 x 21 rear double-spoke wheels are the lightest in their class and their low overall weight contributes to better overall performance from braking to accelerating and even fuel economy. New 255/30 ZR21 and 295/25 ZR21 sport tires attempt to keep all the power in control.
