The BMW M550d might not be the all-out performance sedan like its gasoline-powered M5 sibling, but it does pack a significant amount of oil-burning torque to slap a smile on any enthusiast’s face. In fact, it has more torque than the M5 and its twin-turbocharged gasoline V-8 engine. G-Power has two options for M550d owners that give it earth-turning amounts of torque along with some added performance through the use of lightweight forged wheels.
Customers have two options from G-Power when it comes to tuning the triple-turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline-six of the M550d. Both options provide the same maximum output but in different ways.
First up is the plug-and-play G-Power D-Tronik 5 V1 power module. Positioned between the car’s ECU and engine, the D-Tronik 5 V1 is inactive under partial load but unleashes the power instantly under full throttle by changing the boost and fuel delivery mapping.
The other option is to have G-Power install their D-Tronik 2 V1 upgrade software. This requires the factory ECU to undergo a bespoke tune where individual requests such as throttle response and power delivery characteristics can be written directly into the new software.
In the end, whether it’s the D-Tronik 5 V1 or D-Tronik 2 V1, the BMW 550d sees its output rise to a monstrous 435 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque.
To help customers get that extra touch of performance, G-Power offers their Hurricane RR forged alloy wheels. The lightweight, aerospace-grade aluminum alloy used to make the forged wheels are lighter and stronger, meaning that rotating mass is reduced. This leads to better acceleration, braking, handling, and even fuel efficiency.
The new Hurricane RR forged wheels can be fitted on the BMW M550d in 20- or 21-inch diameters with Jet Black, Gun Metal Grey, Stardust Silver, or Diamond Cut finishes. The latter can be had partially or completely polished. For customers that want that extra touch of exclusivity can opt for the 15-character personal signature on each wheel.
