While the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford GT grab headlines, the Dodge Viper ACR is lurking through the twists and turns of the racetrack, letting its big, naturally-aspirated V-10 engine do the talking. While it’s an American icon, the German team at GeigerCars decided to give it a bit of a German touch and make it oh-so-special.
Right off the factory line, the Dodge Viper ACR packs 645 horsepower – more than enough to get the job done and then some. GeigerCars took that to the next level with a white-knuckled engine upgrade program that adds an extra 111 horsepower.
The naturally-aspirated 8.4-liter V-10 engine was outfitted with ported and polished cylinder heads, larger-diameter intake valves, high-lift camshafts, new hydraulic lifters, pushrods, and double-valve springs. Cutting down on backpressure and unleashing a furious roar is a new exhaust system including headers, 200-cell catalytic converters, and stainless steel piping.
After all the new hardware was installed, Karl Geiger and his team installed a new ECU software upgrade the results in a total output of 765 horsepower at 6,400 RPM and 679 lb-ft. of torque at 5,500 RPM. In order to maintain drivetrain reliability, a new engine oil cooler and rear-axle oil cooler with electric pump were installed.
Part of what makes the GeigerCars Dodge Viper ACR so deadly on the track is its hardcore ‘Extreme Aero Package’. This list of carbon fiber goodies keeps weight to a minimum while increasing downforce for better performance. The kit includes a new front splitter, dual dive flaps on the front bumper, and a new rear diffuser.
The finishing touch that helps cut weight where it really matters was a new set of forged wheels. The lightweight alloys measure 11.0 x 19 and a massive 13.0 x 19 at the front and rear, and reduce rotating mass at the wheel hub for better acceleration, braking, and even fuel efficiency.
The new GeigerCars Dodge Viper ACR conversion package is available for 40,775 euros or customers can purchase the entire car with the ‘Extreme Aero Package’ for 219,000 euros.
